Moodle 2.x Status Report, June 2012

After extensive review, CLAMP is pleased to recommend the use of Moodle 2.x for the 2012-13 academic year.

In our initial report on Moodle 2.0 [PDF], CLAMP’s member schools found a number of major issues with the 2.x iteration of the open source learning management system. While some reservations remain, we find that most of these issues have been addressed in in the current Moodle 2.x releases.

New Moodle LAE releases: 1.9.16+1.6.1, 1.6.2

CLAMP is pleased to announce the release of Moodle 1.9.16+Liberal Arts Edition v1.6.2. This is a security release that backports security fixes from 1.9.18 to LAE 1.6.x. It also includes an updated version of TinyMCE to resolve conflicts with Firefox 11 (CLAMP #370), and a gradebook fix that solves with comments not saving if there were no grades (CLAMP #393)

Download the code from the Moodle 1.9.16+LAE v1.6.2 release page.  If you only want the security releases, use Moodle 1.9.16+LAE v1.6.1.

Project Suggestions for Moodle Hack/Doc Fest: Summer 2012

Moodle Hack/Doc Fest at Kalamazoo College is a month away and we’re looking for suggestions for bug fixes, documentation and new features for Moodle that the community would like us to address. You can add your requests by making a comment on this blog post. You don’t have to be attending Hack/Doc Fest to make suggestions — we’d like suggestions from the entire community.

We expect to work on the following:

  • Evaluation and testing of Moodle 2.3
  • Bug fixes and feature enhancements for inclusion in Moodle: Liberal Arts Edition 2.3
  • LAE Grader for Moodle 2.3
