Registration open for Moodle Hack/Doc Fest, Winter 2016 at Reed College

Registration is now open for Moodle Hack/Doc Fest, Winter 2016 at Reed College.

The event will be held Wednesday, Jan. 6 through Friday, Jan. 8, 2016 at Reed College in Portland, OR. There will be a Documentation/Code Sprint the day before Hack/Doc begins on Tuesday, Jan. 5.

The hotel reservation deadline is Friday, November 20, 2015. The event registration deadline is Friday, Dec. 11, 2015.

New Moodle LAE Releases for 2.7.10, 2.8.8, 2.9.2

There are three new CLAMP releases. There are no new LAE features; these are maintenance releases only. Moodle core introduced major changes to the gradebook beginning in Moodle 2.8. Please see CLAMP’s Moodle 2.8 and Moodle 2.9 recommendations for more information.

The next stable releases on the 2.7, 2.8 and 2.9 branches are slated for November 20, 2015. These releases were packaged and tested by Charles Fulton (Lafayette College) and Kevin Wiliarty (Hampshire College).

New Moodle LAE Releases for 2.7.9, 2.8.7, 2.9.1

There are three new CLAMP releases. This is the initial release on the 2.9 branch. The 2.8 and 2.7 releases now include the Ad-hoc database queries report.

Core has deprecated the 2.6 branch and we do not anticipate further releases on it. The next stable releases on the 2.7, 2.8 and 2.9 branches are slated for September 21.

Moodle 2.8 and 2.9 gradebook advisory follow-up

In late May CLAMP became aware of several critical bugs in the Moodle gradebook which were introduced in 2.8. After assessing, CLAMP issued an advisory recommending against upgrading to Moodle 2.8 or 2.9 until those bugs were mitigated. Since then Moodle core and members of the Moodle community have made considerable progress working on these issues, and CLAMP believes it is now safe to upgrade to 2.8 and 2.9.
