Moodle Hack/Doc Fest, Summer 2012 will be held Tuesday, June 12 through Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, MI. There will be a pre-conference Documentation & Code Sprint on Monday, June 11, 2012.
- Code & Documentation Sprint: We will be having a Code & Documentation Sprint on Monday, June 11, 2012, the day before Hack/Doc Fest
- Small Group Dinners: Hack/Doc Fest has grown considerably, and it’s become difficult to find one place to host all of us for dinner. This time around we are going to break into small groups (perhaps 6-8 people) for dinner.
Registration
Attending Hack Doc Fest: Moodle Hack/Doc Fest is a free event. Attendees will need to pay for their own transportation, lodging, and dinner.

Lodging
Attendees are responsible for arranging their own lodging. There are some recommended options for the event. Please be aware that Kalamazoo’s commencement is Sunday, June 10 which has created a high demand for hotel rooms that weekend, including the night of the 10th.
Comfort Inn
We have arranged a block of 25 rooms at the Comfort Inn at a nightly rate of $102. These rooms are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. This block is for Monday-Thursday (Friday checkout). There are an additional six (6) rooms available for Sunday night at the block rate. Please reference “Moodle/Kalamazoo College” when booking. The Comfort Inn is a 5-minute walk from the library. The block reservation will expire on May 11, 2012.
- 739 West Michigan Avenue , Kalamazoo, MI, US, 49007
- Rate: $102/night

Stuart Avenue Inn Bed & Breakfast
An alternative option is the Stuart Avenue Inn Bed & Breakfast. See http://www.stuartavenueinn.com/ for details. The Inn is also a five-minute walk from the library. There is no conference rate for the B&B.
Weather
Because of its proximity to the Great Lakes (40 miles east of Lake Michigan) Kalamazoo’s weather can be highly variable. The average temperature in June is 70 degrees, but can range from a high of 80 to a low in the mid-50s. Normally it does not snow any later than May.
Virtual Participation
As at previous Hack/Doc Fests, we will be paring people at Hack/Doc Fest with virtual counterparts to work on particular tasks/bugs. Virtual participants should be prepared to start working on Hack/Doc projects at 10 a.m. on each day of Hack/Doc Fest.
Reimbursement
There is no reimbursement for this event through CLAMP.
Itinerary
This is a tentative itinerary for Moodle Hack/Doc Fest. Hack/Doc is a very ad hoc event; we typically come up with a plan the first day of the event, break up into teams, and then get to work. This itinerary exists to provide a rough overview of our schedule, and is subject to change on site.

Hack/Doc Fest Orientation
2 p.m., EDT: Hack/Doc Fest Orientation
We will be holding a pre-event Hack/Doc Orientation on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 in CLAMP’s Elluminate Room. During this session we’ll be making sure that everyone’s CLAMP accounts work (for logging into WordPress and Redmine) and trying out the Jabber server. We’ll also be taking a first crack at running down the task list.
