We've <a href="http://www.clamp-it.org/2009/12/clamp-security-alert-course-backup-flaw/" rel="nofollow">posted the workarounds and a patch for the admin backup problem</a>. We'll be folding all of the changes from 1.9.7 (including the new role capabilities that prevent teachers from backing up user data when they backup their courses) as part of Hack/Doc Fest V, and will have a new full release out shortly after that.
